According WIPO, patents in E-commerce play an important role because of the amount of licensing, contracting out, outsourcing and strategic relations involved in this industry.
We looked at the patenting activity in E-commerce from 2009-2018, who the top players are, and which technology areas are being pursued. We also looked at the startups in this industry and just what they are patenting on.
