This prior art search report presents the mappings of the various elements of claim 1 of U.S. Patent No. 7,203,844 (‘844 Patent), titled “Method and system for a recursive security protocol for digital copyright control”, from current assignee Torus Ventures LLC, published on 10 April 2007.
Typical encryption systems have one encryption algorithm applied to data to be protected. A corresponding decryption algorithm is then used to transform the data back to its original form. For these kinds of systems, the data is protected but the encryption and decryption algorithms are not. In this patent, a recursive security protocol for protecting digital content is disclosed. The method described is self-referencing where a second encryption algorithm is used to protect itself by encrypting both the already encrypted data and the first encryption algorithm.
