Imtiaz is a registered Patent Agent with extensive experience drafting and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications across a range of technologies, including life sciences, food science, mechanical devices, and software.
He has worked as a patent agent for various consulting and technology companies. Most recently, he has served in patent agent roles at co and Aristo, where they managed domestic and foreign patent portfolios, and worked with AI-enabled tools for patent drafting and prior art searches. He also previously worked for a gaming and technology company, running invention harvesting sessions in areas such as hardware and gaming. He reviewed office action responses and prepared patent landscape and freedom-to-operate reports.
At Beyond Meat, he focused on food composition patents, drafting and prosecuting applications before the USPTO and advising on national phase entries. He supported IP strategy for Beyond Meat through invention mining, competitor landscape reports, and freedom-to-operate analysis across research groups.
His work at MDE Patents, Torrey Pines Law Group, and Invention Management Associates centered on preparation of utility and design applications in the chemical, biological, and software arts.
Earlier work as a patent agent for Sheppard Mullin allowed him to build extensive experience drafting U.S. and PCT patent applications related to software, mechanical systems, and batteries. As a patent engineer in IBM, he collaborated directly with inventors and legal teams to produce timely, high-quality filings and responses, including applications developed in coordination with IBM R&D.
